Save the date: PCE 2024

LASIG’s 2024 pre-conference event is on 15 April, 2024 in Brighton and hybrid. Our topic this year is Advising and guiding: empowering foreign language learners in and out of the classroom.

The event will be an informative day full of new ideas, networking opportunities, and practical approaches to enhancing and expanding your knowledge. Our program is still a work-in-progress, but you can get an overview of what we are planning here:

As always, the key priorities of our PCE are community building, sharing ideas, and supporting each other’s development. For those of you who cannot make it to Brighton, we are aiming for a truly hybrid event where online participants are fully integrated in the day.

What you will learn at this PCE:

  • What language learning advising is and how it can be conducted
  • How to use feedback and dialogue to support the learning process
  • What the role of reflection is and how it can be fostered
  • How to become an advisor and why doing so benefits your learners

Call for proposals: we will be issuing a call for proposals for poster presentations towards the end of the year.

Registration: IATEFL will open PCE registration in October 2024.

Accommodation: we recommend you reserve your accommodation as soon as possible because the hotels in Brighton fill up quickly. You can book on booking.com; alternatively, IATEFL will collaborate with Reservation Highway for reduced prices on hotels near the venue.

Pre-PCE dinner: a highlight of our PCE is the annual pre-PCE dinner. This self-paid event allows you to get to know other delegates and break the ice before the event.
