April 1-5, 2019: IATEFL Annual Conference in Liverpool. Our Pre-Conference Event (PCE) in Liverpool focused on the key question of how educators can be supported in developing language learner autonomy. The PCE was interactive and informative and gave participants the chance to exchange ideas and learn about projects from around the world. Read more about the 2019 PCE. November 23, 2018: Autonomy in language learning conference, Essen. Together with IATEFL / LASIG, the Applied Linguistics-Didactics Section of the Dept. of Anglophone Studies at the University of Duisburg-Essen hosted a one-day conference on autonomy in language learning. The focus of the event was on learning languages in school settings that already provide learners with some responsibility for their learning, e.g. in the so-called alternative schools or in networks of schools that are concerned with shaping their learning environments for the future.
September 21-22, 2018: LASIG conference in Brno, Czech Republic. The event, titled The teacher’s role in development of learner autonomy, explored the specific and ever-changing role that the language teacher plays within the context of autonomous learning. Read more about this event in Brno.

April 9-13, 2018: IATEFL annual conference, Brighton. We hosted a pre-conference event (PCE) and a SIG day. The PCE featured 16 poster presentations about learner autonomy projects from around the world. Some highlights from our SIG day were sessions on peer assessment, reflection, learning from our learners and online platforms, just to name a few.
